The Department of Computer Applications, in association with Unarvu Counselling Centre, Assabah Arts and Science College, Valayamkulam organized an Orientation Programme on “Mindset and Mentorship” on 19 June 2026 for BCA students and their parents. The programme focused on creating awareness about the importance of a positive mindset, effective mentorship, emotional well-being, and the challenges faced by students during their academic journey.The programme began with a welcome address delivered by Ms. Subi, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Applications, who welcomed the dignitaries, parents, students, and participants.
The session was inaugurated by Prof. MN Mohamed Koya, Principal, Assabah Arts and Science College. In his inaugural address, he emphasized the importance of proper guidance, discipline, and a supportive academic environment for students’ personal and professional development.Mr. Basheer, Management Committee Member, addressed the gathering and shared valuable insights on the role of management support, mentorship, and collective efforts in enhancing students’ growth and success. The resource session was handled by Afeefa MK, Psychologist, Unarvu Counselling Centre, who discussed the psychological challenges faced by students, including academic stress, career concerns, emotional difficulties, peer influence, digital distractions, and strategies for maintaining mental well-being.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Hema, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Applications, expressing gratitude to the management, principal, resource person, faculty members, parents, and students for their valuable participation and support.

The Orientation Programme on “Mindset and Mentorship” provided valuable insights into the psychological and academic aspects of student life. The inauguration by the Principal and the interactive session by the Psychologist helped students and parents understand the importance of emotional well-being, guidance, and effective mentorship. The programme concluded with the message that a positive mindset, continuous support from mentors, and strong parent–student communication are essential for students’ success and holistic development.
