Student Initiative in Palliative Care( SIP),Assabah Arts and Science College, in association with Unarvu Counselling Center, organised a Awarness session titled “ Caring Beyond Cancer ” on 18 September 2026 at 10:30 a.m. in the Conference Hall.
The programme was inaugurated by Prof. Mohammed Koya M. N., Principal, Assabah Arts and Science College. Thalmia, a second-year Psychology student, served as the anchor, and the welcome address was delivered by Farsana, a second-year Psychology student.
The programme featured two informative sessions. Javahir , Assistant Professor of Psychology, delivered a session on “Cancer Awareness,” highlighting the significance of early awareness, understanding, and timely intervention. The second session, “Care of Cancer Patients and Caregiver Support,” was conducted by Afeefa M. K., Psychologist, Unarvu Counselling Center. The session addressed the psychological and emotional needs of cancer patients, the importance of compassionate care, caregiver well-being, and the role of palliative care in enhancing quality of life.
.The active participation of SIP students contributed to the successful conduct of the programme. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Fahad, student of Assabah college .
