The initiative was undertaken with the participation of NSS volunteers, under the guidance of NSS Program Officers and in coordination with local farmers. The program aimed to enhance agricultural productivity by improving the water management system, which is crucial for farming activities in the region.
Volunteers actively engaged in removing debris, plastic waste, and silt deposits from the ditches. With the help of basic tools such as spades and shovels, they ensured that water could flow smoothly through the irrigation channels. The team interacted with local farmers to understand their challenges related to water management and discussed sustainable methods to prevent blockages in the future.Farmers were encouraged to keep water channels clean and avoid dumping waste in ditches.
Improved Irrigation: The removal of blockages allowed smooth water flow, benefiting the farmlands and reducing the risk of water stagnation. Environmental Benefits: The cleaning helped prevent mosquito breeding and waterborne diseases caused by stagnant water.
