The Department of Psychology, Assabah Arts and Science College Valayankulam, organized a session on “Effective Parenting” at Pulichodu, Kokkur Anganwadi, on 14 August 2026 at 2:30 PM. The session was handled by Ms. Nivya Vijayan, Head of the Department of Psychology, and Ms. Smygtha K. P., 3rd Year Psychology Student. The programme aimed to create awareness among parents about the importance of positive and effective parenting in promoting the emotional, social, and overall development of children. The session focused on understanding children’s needs, effective communication, active listening, emotional support, positive discipline, and creating a safe and nurturing family environment. Parents were encouraged to develop supportive relationships with their children and respond to their feelings and concerns with patience and understanding. Overall, the session highlighted the important role of parents in nurturing happy, healthy, and confident children.
