Empowering Minds: Mental Health Awareness Sessions for First-Year Students

The Women's Development Cell (WDC) and Mental Health Club at Assabah Arts and Science College collaborated to organize a series of vital programs aimed at enhancing the well-being and awareness of first-year undergraduate students. On December 4th and 5th, 2023, the college's Auditorium buzzed with enthusiasm as students gathered for a "General Awareness Programme" and a "Suicide Prevention Class." The initiative began with a warm welcome by Shajitha V, the WDC Convenor, setting the tone for the impactful sessions ahead. The inauguration ceremony, graced by Muhammedunni Haji, the General Secretary of Assabah Trust, and further enriched by the insightful presidential address delivered by Mohammed Koya MN, the college Principal, underscored the significance of mental health and awareness within the academic community. The event also witnessed commendable contributions from various college dignitaries, including Praveen K U, Jisha M K, and Bafeesha. Shajitha V expertly led the "General Awareness Class," while Nusaiba Nadrad, a member of the Mental Health Squad and a dedicated Psychology student, delivered a compelling "Suicide Prevention Class," emphasizing the importance of mental health education and support within the college environment.
