The NSS Unit 240 of Assabah Arts and Science College, Valayamkulam, successfully organized a fundraising campaign on the occasion of Palliative Care Day, in support of Karunyam Palliative Care, Changaramkulam. Through the collective efforts of students, faculty, and the local community, the campaign raised a total amount of ₹1,50,000, which was donated to assist in providing essential medical care, medicines, and emotional support to chronically ill and bedridden patients.
Palliative Care Day is observed worldwide to emphasize the need for compassionate care for terminally ill patients. Recognizing the significance of this cause, NSS volunteers actively engaged in fundraising activities, encouraging people to contribute towards improving the lives of palliative care patients.
Classroom-to-classroom visits were conducted, where NSS volunteers explained the purpose of the fundraiser and collected voluntary contributions from students. Donation boxes were placed in strategic locations within the college premises, allowing faculty, staff, and visitors to contribute. Volunteers also extended the campaign beyond the campus, approaching local businesses, shops, and community members for support. The initiative received overwhelming support, with students, faculty, and local donors contributing generously. Many individuals and organizations pledged continued support for Karunyam Palliative Care, recognizing the importance of sustained funding for such services. At the conclusion of the fundraising drive, the total collected amount of
₹1,50,000 was officially handed over to representatives of Karunyam Palliative Care in a formal event.
