The PG Department of Commerce, Assabah Arts and Science College, Valayamkulam, organized an industrial visit to the Khadi Production Unit, Kadavalloor, on 18 August 2026 for the 5th Semester B.Com Co-operation students.

The visit provided students with practical exposure to various stages of Khadi production. They interacted with the workers and officials and gained insights into production management, employment generation, rural entrepreneurship, marketing, and sustainable production practices.

Special attention was given to understanding the role of the co-operative movement in the Khadi sector. Students learned how co-operative principles such as collective participation, democratic management, mutual support, equitable distribution of benefits, and promotion of rural employment contribute to the development and sustainability of Khadi and village industries.

The visit was an enriching learning experience that helped students connect classroom concepts of co-operation and commerce with real-world industrial practices. It also enabled them to appreciate the economic and social significance of Khadi in promoting rural development, self-employment, and sustainable livelihoods.
