Assabah arts and science college Food Technology students went to MESMAC international conference 2026 [edition 10] held on 13th January 2026 in MES mamapad college (Autonomous) ,we were invited by online registration in www.mesmac.in website and paid Rs 600 for participation. There were 5 students from B.Sc food technology (4th sem) namely : Fathima Hiba KM, Hajara Sahla Ep, Haniya Ayisha PV, Hanna Fathima CP, Hasni KH and 1 student from M.Sc food technology (2nd sem) Shafna Shirin NK.
We all arrived at Kuttippuram Bus stand at 8:40 AM by having our breakfast from home.Altogether we started our traveling from Kuttippuram to Manjeri in a direct KSRTC bus and reached there by almost 10 AM and from there we had another bus to Mampad , arrived there by 11 AM . We were really excited about the college and the international conference inaugurating by guest Dr. Pankaj Pathare. When we reached at college 3 of the students from us had spot registration to attend the seminar and all of us got a bag with food coupan for lunch,evening tea. Then we went to seminar hall for inauguration program.
The seminar delivered by Dr. Pankaj Pathre , associate Professor at Sulthan Qaboos University, Oman . His seminar focused on understanding postharvest losses of fruits and vegetables in Gulf region and highlighted the importance of improving postharvest management to ensure food security and reduce economic losses. He is an expert in postharvest technology and food engineering . His research areas include qualification of postharvest losses, mechanical damage in perishables, food drying and cooling, packaging design and energy efficient food processing systems.
Dr.Pankaj Pathare’s seminar highlighted the critical issue of postharvest losses in fruits and vegetables and emphasized the importance of scientific and technological interventions to minimize losses in gulf region. That seminar was informative and beneficial for all students , researchers and professionals in the field of agriculture and food technology.
After attending inauguration we had our lunch and after that we had explored across the college and it was a wonderful experience of it’s academic environment and campus facilities. The college impressed us with it’s well-maintained infrastructure , supportive faculty and vibrant student atmosphere . we visited different departments, libraries and other facilities which helped us to understand the learning culture of the institution. Later we participated in paper presentation judged by the guest , students from different colleges presented seminar on various topics like Halwa
nutraceuticals ,Breakfast as cereal raggi, Role of AI in food packaging illustrates the important role in food packaging by improving safety, quality and efficiency, this helps to detect defects, monitor freshness and predict shelf life using smart sensors and data analysis. AI also supports automated packaging systems, reduces food waste, improves supply chain management and assists in designing sustainable packaging materials.
We returned from college with participation certificate and gained more knowledge about the topic in deep and helped us to understand practical aspects beyond textbooks. The presenters explained their concepts clearly with evidence and data analysis like an research reports. This session enhanced our understanding, improved our confidence, motivated us to present the seminar and learn more .
