As part of the observance of National Nutrition Week, the Nutrition Club and the PG Department of Food Science and Technology jointly organized a Workshop and Seminar on “Microgreens: Their Importance, Nutritional Aspects, and Entrepreneurial Opportunities” on Thursday, 3 September 2026, at the Food Technology Laboratory of Assabah Arts and Science College.The resource person for the programme was Mrs. Shabna Kaliyath, Assistant Professor, Department of Food Technology.During the seminar, she explained the importance of microgreens, their nutritional benefits, and their entrepreneurial potential. The session provided valuable insights into the role of microgreens as nutrient-rich foods and the possibilities of developing microgreen cultivation into a small-scale entrepreneurial venture.As part of the workshop, Mrs. Shabna Kaliyath demonstrated the methods of producing and cultivating microgreens using seeds. The practical session helped participants understand the various stages involved in microgreen cultivation.The programme was attended by Nutrition Club members from various departments and students of the Food Technology programme. The workshop and seminar were highly informative and beneficial, helping the participants gain a better understanding of microgreens, their cultivation techniques, nutritional significance, and entrepreneurial opportunities.The programme, organized as part of National Nutrition Week celebrations, successfully highlighted the importance of nutritious foods and encouraged participants to explore microgreens as a healthy dietary option as well as a promising small-scale entrepreneurial opportunity.
