The Postgraduate (PG) Department of Chemistry, in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the Film Club, organized an inspiring Mobile Photography Contest to promote environmental awareness and encourage students to explore the natural beauty of our planet. This innovative initiative was open exclusively to the students of the Chemistry and English Departments and was enthusiastically received by participants. The contest aimed to foster a deeper appreciation for nature among students by encouraging them to capture and share the splendour of the natural world through photography. By highlighting the beauty of rivers, greenery, and other elements of nature, the contest sought to instil a sense of environmental responsibility and creativity. The contest was announced with a submission deadline of November 29, 2024, allowing participants ample time to explore and capture the essence of nature through their lenses. The event was judged by Mr. Mohammed Shaheem O.H., Assistant Professor in the English Department, whose expertise in visual storytelling and aesthetics added depth to the evaluation process. The first prize was awarded to Ms. Jahana Sherin, a student of 3rd MA English, for her outstanding photograph that vividly encapsulated the serenity and allure of nature. The contest received an overwhelming response, with submissions showcasing a diverse array of natural landscapes and perspectives. Among the notable contributors were Fathima, Najila Nasrin, and Muhsina, whose photographs stood out for their vivid depictions of rivers, lush greenery, and the interplay of light and shadow. The exceptional quality of the entries reflected the participants' keen eye for detail and their ability to see the extraordinary in the ordinary. The photographs not only captured the beauty of the environment but also served as a powerful reminder of the importance of preserving nature. Through their lenses, the students brought to life the quiet majesty of rivers, the vibrant hues of foliage, and the intricate patterns of light on water, inspiring viewers to pause and appreciate the world around them. The Mobile Photography Contest was a resounding success, achieving its dual objectives of raising environmental awareness and celebrating the artistic talents of students. The event underscored the critical role of education in shaping a generation that values and protects the natural world. The PG Department of Chemistry, IQAC, and the Film Club extend their gratitude to all participants, the judging panel, and the organizing team for their contributions to the event’s success. The initiative stands as a testament to the power of collaboration in fostering creativity and environmental stewardship among students. Special thanks are due to Mr. Mohammed Shaheem O.H. for his expert judgment and to all participants whose stunning submissions made the contest a memorable event. Heartfelt congratulations to Ms. Jahana Sherin for her remarkable achievement, and appreciation to Fathima, Najila Nasrin, Muhsina, and other contributors for their inspiring work.
