PUBLIC POND CLEANING PROGRAM NEAR KORATTIKKARA VISHNU-SHIVA TEMPLE

The NSS Unit 240 of Assabah Arts and Science College, Valayamkulam, organized a Public Pond Cleaning Program near Korattikkara Vishnu-Shiva Temple as part of its environmental conservation and community service initiatives. The program aimed to restore the pond to its natural state by removing waste, weeds, and accumulated silt while also cleaning the surrounding areas to maintain hygiene and ensure better water quality.

The initiative was conducted with the active participation of NSS volunteers, under the guidance of NSS Program Officers, and with the support of local community members and temple authorities. The pond, which serves as a vital water source and a sacred site, had been affected by waste accumulation, weed growth, and pollution. The cleaning drive aimed to restore its cleanliness and ecological balance.

A preliminary inspection was conducted to evaluate the condition of the pond and surrounding areas. Volunteers planned the cleaning process, dividing tasks to ensure an efficient and systematic approach. Volunteers removed plastic waste, fallen leaves, and other debris from the water surface. Unwanted aquatic weeds and algae were cleared to prevent water stagnation and contamination.

The Public Pond Cleaning Program near Korattikkara Vishnu-Shiva Temple was a successful step toward environmental sustainability and community welfare. The NSS Unit 240 of Assabah Arts and Science College remains committed to undertaking more such initiatives in the future to promote cleanliness and ecological conservation.
