RELIEF COLLECTION DRIVE FOR WAYANAD, MUNDAKAI, AND CHOORALMALA LANDSLIDE VICTIMS

In response to the devastating landslides that struck Wayanad, Mundakai, and Chooralmala, displacing numerous families and causing severe hardship, the NSS Unit 240 of Assabah Arts and Science College, Valayamkulam, in collaboration with the College Union, took the initiative to set up a relief collection point within the college premises. The aim was to mobilize resources and gather essential supplies to support the affected communities in their time of need.

Once the collection was completed, the NSS volunteers meticulously sorted, packed, and organized the relief materials to ensure systematic distribution. On the designated day, all collected items were transported to Government College, Malappuram, which was functioning as a central relief coordination center for Wayanad landslide victims. This ensured that the donations reached the right hands under proper supervision.

The initiative was met with overwhelming appreciation from both the college administration and the general public. The affected communities in Wayanad and surrounding areas received much-needed assistance, alleviating some of their hardships. The District Administration and relief coordinators acknowledged the efforts of NSS Unit 240 and the College Union, highlighting the importance of youth-led humanitarian efforts in times of crisis.

The relief collection drive served as a powerful example of solidarity, compassion, and responsibility among students and faculty. It reinforced the spirit of community service and social commitment, demonstrating how collective action can bring real change. The NSS Unit 240, with its unwavering dedication, has once again proven its role in serving society beyond the classroom.

Moving forward, the NSS unit and College Union have expressed their commitment to continuing such initiatives, ensuring they stand ready to extend support whenever needed.
