In observance of World Environment Day on June 5, 2025, the NSS 240 Unit of Assabah Arts and Science College, Valayamkulam, organized an environmentally focused event in the adopted village of Alamcod Panchayath. The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of environmental conservation and involved both tree planting and the maintenance of existing trees in the village.
The primary objective of the event was to engage the local community and students in meaningful environmental actions. The NSS 240 Unit sought to contribute to the conservation of the environment in the adopted village and foster a deeper understanding of sustainability practices. The initiative was also designed to inspire a long-term commitment to environmental care among both students and villagers.
The event was a great success, with over 100 of saplings planted in various parts of the village. Volunteers and villagers worked hand-in-hand, and the older trees in the village were well-maintained, ensuring a greener and healthier environment. Participants learned valuable skills in tree care, environmental conservation, and the importance of community involvement in sustaining green initiatives.
The NSS 240 Unit’s celebration of World Environment Day in the adopted village was a productive and impactful event. By planting new trees and taking care of existing ones, the volunteers contributed significantly to the environmental health of the village. This initiative not only beautified the village but also reinforced the message of sustainable practices, showing that collective action is key to preserving the environment. Moving forward, the NSS unit hopes to continue such efforts, inspiring both the college community and the villagers to actively protect and nurture the environment.
