The NSS Unit 240 of Assabah Arts and Science College, Valayamkulam, conducted a Road Safety Awareness Program at Perumpilav in collaboration with Kunnamkulam Police Station. The initiative aimed to educate the public, especially drivers, about the importance of following road safety measures to prevent accidents and ensure a safer road environment.

The awareness campaign was organized under the guidance of NSS Program Officers and was actively supported by officers from Kunnamkulam Police Station. The event saw enthusiastic participation from NSS volunteers, who took the responsibility of spreading awareness among motorists, pedestrians, and the general public.

Volunteers engaged directly with motorists, including car, auto-rickshaw, and two- wheeler drivers, informing them about essential road safety measures. The importance of wearing helmets and seat belts, following traffic rules, avoiding mobile phone usage while driving, and maintaining speed limits were emphasized. Informative pamphlets containing crucial road safety guidelines were distributed among drivers and commuters. The pamphlets highlighted statistics on road accidents, penalties for traffic rule violations, and tips for responsible driving. Officers from Kunnamkulam Police Station addressed the gathering and explained various traffic rules and regulations. They also provided insights into how reckless driving, drunk driving, and violation of road rules lead to accidents and legal consequences.

The Road Safety Awareness Program successfully educated a large number of motorists and pedestrians at Perumpilav. The initiative helped instill a sense of responsibility among drivers, encouraging them to adopt safer driving habits. The collaboration with the Kunnamkulam Police added credibility and effectiveness to the campaign, ensuring that the message reached the public with greater impact.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks to all participants, including the police officials, NSS volunteers, and the public, for their cooperation and active involvement.
