On December 05, 2023, the PG Department of Chemistry organized a Lab Skill Development Program at the B.Sc. Chemistry Lab, aiming to enhance students' practical skills and foster a scientific mindset. The session, conducted by both M.Sc. and B.Sc. Chemistry students, provided insights into various chemical reactions encountered in their studies, promoting scientific thinking among the attendees. Students from GHSS Kokkur actively participated in the program, with a total of 50 students and 3 teaching staff in attendance.
Head of Department, Majna K, inaugurated the event with a warm welcome, emphasizing the significance of a scientific approach in today's competitive world. The program showcased 10 different experiments explained by both PG and UG Chemistry students. The students from GHSS Kokkur displayed enthusiasm, actively engaging in the experiments and posing queries, reflecting their keen interest in science.
During the lab visit in 2023, a range of experiments was conducted, including NI3 Cracking, Golden Sparkles, Elephant Toothpaste, Lava Lamp, Acid-Base Titration, Fake Blood, Flame Test, Chemical Traffic Light, Invisible Ink, and Permanganometry. Handled by dedicated students from both PG and UG classes, these experiments not only provided a fun and interactive learning experience but also encouraged high school students to explore the fascinating world of chemistry.
