The Women Development Cell, in association with Unarvu Counseling Center and under the monitoring of IQAC, organized an awareness session on “PCOS, Nutrition & Mental Health” for college girl students on 22/06/2026 at the College Conference Hall. Nearly 100 students participated in the program.
The program began with a welcome address by WDC Coordinator Smt. Hemalatha. She spoke about the importance of physical and mental health for girl students and the need for such sessions on campus.
The inaugural address was delivered by College Principal Prof. Mohamed Koya Sir. He stressed the importance of students paying attention to their health and appreciated the initiatives of the WDC.
Vice Principal Sri. Baiju Sir delivered the felicitation address. He noted that such classes help girls develop a healthy lifestyle and make informed choices about their wellbeing.
The chief guest and resource person, Smt. Afeefa M.K. from Unarvu Counseling Center, led the session. She explained in detail the causes and symptoms of PCOS, ways to manage it through nutrition and lifestyle changes, and methods to handle mental stress. She also clarified the doubts raised by students. She reminded everyone that health is a connection of both body and mind, and that self-care is essential.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Kumari. Hana Mariyam. She expressed gratitude to Unarvu Counseling Center, IQAC, College Management, teachers, and all the students who attended.
The session organized by WDC was highly beneficial for the students. It created a platform to openly discuss health issues and gain scientific knowledge on PCOS, nutrition, and mental health.
