The PG Department of Chemistry in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), organized an informative talk and power point presentation competition on the topic, “The Mole – The Unseen Hero of Chemistry.”
The seminar commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Jayaraj K, the Head of the Department of Chemistry, who emphasized the importance of the concept of “Mole”. He welcomed the participants, resource person and all faculties of Department of Chemistry.
The seminar was inaugurated by the respected principal, M.N. Mohamed Koya, who appreciated the initiative taken by the department and IQAC for facilitating such an informative talk. In his inaugural speech, he highlighted the importance of “Mole”.
The session was led by the resource person, Our beloved, Miss. Anju Sreekumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, Assabah Arts And Science College. Her presentation centred around the topic “The Mole – The Unseen Hero of Chemistry”. She explained some of the fundamental concepts and applications for understanding the concept of Mole.
She discussed the following key points:

• Definition of a Mole
• Avagadro’s number
• Molar mass and molecular weight
• Stoichiometry and chemical calculations

The session was subsequently facilitated by the first semester Chemistry students, who skillfully guided the discussion. They shared valuable insights on the Mole concept, applications and highlighting its significance in chemical calculations. The seminar saw active participation from students of Chemistry Department. Ranjana M.K, Adithya M and Navya P, excelled in their powerpoint presentation, delivering a clear and comprehensive explanation that effectively covered all topics. Their outstanding effort was well received by everyone.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Majna K, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, who expressed her gratitude to Miss. Anju Sreekumar for her enlightening talk, the principal for his continous support and the department for their efforts. She also thanked the students for their active participation, which contributed to the success of the event.
