VISIT TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICS TO CUSAT

The visit was organized to provide students with an opportunity to explore the advanced research facilities and activities at the Department of Physics, CUSAT. It aimed to foster their interest in higher studies and research by showcasing real-world applications of physics principles. The event began with a warm welcome by the faculty and staff of the Department of Physics, CUSAT. Dr. Aldrin Antony, Head of the Department, introduced the agenda of the Open House and highlighted the department's contributions to research and education. Students visited various state-of-the-art research labs where ongoing projects were demonstrated. Labs visited included those for Nanotechnology, Material Science, and Optical Physics. The students were particularly intrigued by experiments showcasing superconductors, laser applications, and advanced imaging techniques. Students interacted with CUSAT students and researchers, who shared insights about their academic and research journeys. Faculty members from CUSAT answered queries related to pursuing MSc/MPhil/PhD programs and Engaging demonstrations of fundamental and advanced physics principles captivated the participants. The highlights included experiments on magnetic levitation, spectroscopy, and quantum mechanics concepts. The visit allowed students and faculty to connect with experts and peers, encouraging collaboration for future projects. The students found the visit immensely enriching and motivating. They appreciated the exposure to high-end research and the chance to clarify their doubts regarding advanced studies. Faculty’s Perspective: The accompanying faculty members noted the importance of such visits in bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical applications.
