Youth Sprint Against Drug Abuse: Mini-Marathon Held in Valayamkulam
As part of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, a vibrant mini-marathon was organized in Changaramkulam to spread the powerful message of a "drug-free society." The awareness event was jointly spearheaded by the Kerala Excise Department’s Ponnani Excise Circle Office and Assabah Arts & Science College, Valayamkulam. The marathon was conducted under the banner of the Excise Department's prominent anti-drug campaigns, 'Operation Toofan' and the 'Vimukthi' project.
The event was officially flagged off on the morning of June 29 at Changaramkulam Town by Ponnani Excise Assistant Circle Inspector, Ganeshan. In his address, he emphasized the critical need to mobilize the youth and provide proper education to combat drug abuse, trafficking, and exploitation. Notable dignitaries, including Alankode Grama Panchayat Vice President Subair and South Indian Bank Changaramkulam Branch Manager Naveen, attended the ceremony as chief guests.
Starting from Changaramkulam Town, the marathon witnessed enthusiastic public participation and concluded at the Assabah College campus. Following the run, an anti-drug assembly was held, which was inaugurated by College President P.P.M. Ashraf, while Principal Prof. Muhammad Koya M.N. administered the anti-drug pledge to the students. Organized in collaboration with South Indian Bank, the initiative saw active leadership from the college's Anti-Narcotic Cell, Sports Club, and National Service Scheme (NSS), bringing together hundreds of students, teachers, and volunteers.
