5. Successful Completion of Intensive Food Technology Certification Course

Assabah P G Food Technology Department recently completed an intensive add-on course covering HACCP, food safety, FOSTAC, and ISO 22000 certifications. Forty-eight students, including participants from ICA College, Thozhiyur, were involved in this comprehensive program.

8. FOOD FEST- DAL BHAT.

The "Dal Bhat" food fest, hosted by the PG Department of Food Science & Technology and the Entrepreneurship Club, showcased 10 creatively decorated stalls offering a variety of culinary delights. On February 13, 2023, Assabah Arts and Science College hosted the successful "GAZPACHO" food fest, organized by the PG Department of Food Science & Technology and the Entrepreneurship Club. Featuring 7 diverse stalls and a vibrant display of culinary creativity, the event aimed at fostering entrepreneurial skills, teamwork, and innovation among student organizers. Inaugurated by Unni Haji and attended by special guest Foodie Muscle Man, Prof Mohammed Koya, and faculty, the fest concluded with faculty judging and a delightful violin performance by Abhin.

10. SEMINAR : MILLET

On October 16, 2023, Prof. Muhammed Koya, the honorable principal, inaugurated a seminar featuring Ponnani Circle Food Safety Officer, Mis. VINEETHA K, as the resource person. The session focused on millets, highlighting their nutritional benefits, community engagement, culinary innovation, and the economic/ecological advantages of incorporating millets into agriculture. The seminar, a powerful tool for promoting millet consumption, concluded around 1 pm.

The seminar, inaugurated by the principal on October 20, 2022, featured Food Safety Officer Mis. Deepth U M discussing recent food safety issues and the Food Safety and Standards Act. Students gained insights into hygiene, processing practices, cooking conditions, and regulations, valuable for their future roles in the food industry. The session concluded with a comprehensive understanding of FSSA around 1 pm.
