HONORING STEPHEN HAWKING: A LEGACY OF COSMIC DISCOVERY

On the occasion of the birth anniversary of the legendary physicist and cosmologist Stephen Hawking, the PG Department of Physics and the Science Club of Assabah Arts and Science College, Valayamkulam, organized a special screening of the critically acclaimed film The Theory of Everything. The event was held on 8th January at 1:30 PM in the Old Library Auditorium, drawing significant participation and enthusiasm from the student community.

The program began with a warm welcome address delivered by Mr. Ranjuraj K., Head of the Department of Physics and Coordinator of the Science Club. In his address, Mr. Ranjuraj emphasized the significance of Stephen Hawking's life and work, describing him as a beacon of resilience and intellectual brilliance whose contributions to cosmology and theoretical physics continue to inspire millions.

The event was formally inaugurated by the Principal, Mr. Muhamed Koya M.N. In his inaugural address, the Principal highlighted the transformative impact of Stephen Hawking’s research on our understanding of the universe and underscored the importance of such events in fostering curiosity and critical thinking among students.

Following the inauguration, the Heads of various science departments offered felicitations. They shared insightful remarks about Hawking's groundbreaking theories, such as his work on black holes and the Big Bang, and his ability to transcend his physical limitations to achieve unparalleled success. Their words resonated deeply with the audience, setting the tone for the screening.

The screening of The Theory of Everything, a biographical drama depicting the life of Stephen Hawking, was met with keen interest from the attendees. The film beautifully showcased Hawking's journey from his early days at Cambridge University, his groundbreaking discoveries in theoretical physics, and his battle with motor neuron disease, to his profound personal and professional achievements. The event witnessed the participation of nearly 90 students from various science departments, including Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Computer Science. The audience engaged actively, and the film sparked thoughtful reflections on the life of Stephen Hawking and his enduring legacy.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the Principal, faculty members, and students for their support and participation. The screening provided a perfect tribute to Stephen Hawking, honoring his contributions to science and humanity while inspiring the next generation of scientists.
