On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, the NSS volunteers of Assabah College, Valayamkulam, demonstrated their commitment to Mahatma Gandhi's vision of cleanliness and hygiene through a Swachhta Pakhwada Cleaning Program. Spanning from September 15 to October 2, 2023, over seven days, the program aimed to instill a sense of responsibility towards cleanliness in the community.

Enthusiastic participation was witnessed from NSS volunteers, students, and faculty members of Assabah College throughout the program. With meticulous planning and execution, the initiative ensured maximum impact and involvement of all participants.

The activities during the Swachhta Pakhwada Cleaning Program were diverse and comprehensive. Firstly, NSS volunteers took proactive measures to clean the college campus thoroughly. This included tidying up classrooms, corridors, the canteen, and the surrounding areas. Their efforts were focused on not only picking up litter but also segregating waste and maintaining overall cleanliness standards.

Moreover, recognizing the importance of extending the cleanliness drive beyond the college premises, NSS volunteers organized village cleaning drives in Valayamkulam and its neighboring areas. Engaging actively with the local community, they conducted awareness campaigns to educate residents about the significance of cleanliness and proper waste management practices. These initiatives aimed to create a sustainable impact by fostering a culture of cleanliness and hygiene in both the college and its surrounding communities.
